NEW Building Update:
Planning:
We have been granted permission for a lovely timber framed, cedar clad building. The permission has been granted with conditions. This is due to the presence of a Bat roost in the roof space (currently unoccupied); the requirements are that we find out what type of roost it is and then apply for a licence to carry out the building works.
Lease:
All parties have agreed on the terms of the lease and it is now in the hands of the County Council solicitors. (It has taken 7 years to get this far!)
Funding:
Very Exciting news - we have been shortlisted for a grant of £150,000 from the County Council, and they have agreed to pay extra for the Bat Surveys. The Parish Council have pledged £10,000 to be given in instalments. Playgroup have £25,000 allocated to the building project.
To get the building up and pay associated professional fees we need to raise a minimum of another £10,000. We will then need to raise approximately another £14,000 to update the outdoor area and buy new equipment. We are still applying to more funding bodies, but every little helps.
Consequently we have thought up “Sponsor a Plank”. The building will be cedar clad, which is where the “Plank” idea has come from. We will make a “Book of Sponsors and Donors” to be kept in the new building as a lasting testament to the community involvement.
We are selling whole “planks” for £20 or ¼ of a plank for £5, for more information phone me, Rebecca, on 01993 852343 or email me on
fundraising@astonandcoteplaygroup.co.uk. If you are a tax payer please tick the gift aid box, for every £20, we can claim £5 back from the H M Revenue and Customs.
Timescale
Due to bats and funding taking longer than anticipated we now expect the building work to take place during the summer of 2010.
